Too Tight, Benito! (picture book)
Little Hare, Illustrator: Judith Rossell, Surry Hills, NSW, 2008
Benito is a bear who discovers he’s grown too large for his cubby-hole. He sets off to find another. He discovers others but none are right. Ants’ holes are too small for example, and foxes’ lairs are too smelly. So on he goes until, in the dark woods, he locates the perfect cubby-hole! However, the woods are full of shadows and ‘snappity twigs’ so Benito scampers back to the safety of his own place and dives into his cubby-hole – only to get stuck halfway. When he wriggles, though, he notices that a little dirt falls down. Soon Benito has wriggled and dug until he has a cubby-hole – that’s the perfect size!
