Samphire to Stone: a history of the Dry Creek to Stockade railway
National Railway Museum, Port Adelaide, 2009

Samphire to Stone is a detailed history of the railway to the Stockade (Yatala Prison), which opened in 1857. It describes the mining, by prisoners, and transport of stone from the prison quarry used in the construction of many of Adelaide’s grand buildings. Samphire to Stone also outlines the local history of the Pooraka area.
