Ken Vincent

Ken retired from public service in May 2008 having worked for almost forty years in the area of statutory welfare. For thirty of those years he was a senior manager. He has qualifications in both social work and management.

He has considerable experience in organisational governance, having chaired the Tea Tree Gully Health Centre Board for three years, served on the Modbury Hospital Board for two years and the Gawler Health Service Board for six years. He has also served on numerous sports related committees at both a local and State level. In his youth he held a commission as an officer in the Army Reserve. He is a Justice of the Peace and volunteers as a duty JP for the City of Tea Tree Gully.

Ken is co-founder and chairs the management committee of the newly formed North Eastern Writers Incorporated. He is passionately interested in literature and poetry and contributes regularly to Friendly Street Poets' and the Gawler Poets' open poetry readings. He is also a volunteer for the SA Writers' Centre. Ken has had two books published in 2009, a novella called Butterfly Girl and an anthology of poetry called No Shoes and the Day was Freezing. His novel Chains of Fear will be published later in the year.

Ken brings to the board a sound knowledge of governance, strategic planning, financial management and leadership. He has considerable experience in the concept development, organisation and conduct of major sporting events and professional conferences.
