Barossa Vintage Festival: 'Poets and Platters'
Proudly sponsored by the SA Writers' Centre, this Barossa Vintage Festival event featured nationally acclaimed poets Martin R Johnson, Mike Ladd, Graham Rowlands, Jude Aquilina, Cath Kenneally and Elizabeth Mansutti.
It was held at the Langmeil Winery, Tanunda, on Tuesday and Wednesday, 6 & 7 April, 7-10pm.

April 1999
Writer's Caf at Koko's
Throughout April, this initially Fringe-inspired event saw a reprisal, over three exciting nights, at Koko's, Rundle Street.
12 April speakers included Kim Maltman, Juliet Paine and Noel Purdon.
19 April speakers included Roo Borson, Hermione Gilchrist, Scott Monk and Richard Lawrence.
26 April speakers included Geoff Goodfellow, Amy King, Leonard Lee and Kirsty Brooks.

As if one Writers' Caf would be enough! The popular event continued in August, on Mondays at Koko's, Rundle Street.
16 August speakers included Brote Pech, Juan Garrido, Quinn Stokes and Mary-May Gill.
23 August speakers included Elizabeth Mansutti, Katherine Goode, Luke Whitby and Soursob Bob.
30 August speakers included Amanda McKay, Junice Direen, Charles Crompton and Baterz.

Anne-Marie Mykyta Memorial Lecture
The third of these annual lectures was held in September 1999.
The 1999 lecture featured guest speaker Elizabeth Moon, with the topic: 'A Bird's-eye View of Pigeonholes'. This speech addressed the labelling of writers due to citizenship, gender, race and religion, and the ability of writers to soar beyond the confines of the categories used to label them.

Where We're At

Friday 10 December was the date for the annual St Lucy's Christmas Party. The theme of the night was the 'T-shirt', with attendees rummaging though their wardrobes for classics, and dressing to be read.
Congratulations to Max Fatchen: SA Great, and an inspiration to us all. On 28 December 1999, he received the SA Great Award for Literature at the South Australia day celebrations on North Terrace.
