EllyStone_180

Elly Stone was born and grew up in Adelaide. Her early life was very much affected by her disability (cerebral palsy) and she was involved in various services for children with special needs. Elly later moved to the southeast of South Australia, where she met her husband, to whom she would be married for twenty years before his sudden death. Back in Adelaide, Elly continued her education through distance study and developed her natural talent for poetry and other styles of writing. Through the SA Writers' Centre, Elly has pursued her growing passion for writing. She has had several poems published and her first book, A Miracle Journey, tells her life story.

Latest Book: A Miracle Journey
Lulu Publishing, USA, 2010
The true story of a woman who suffered cerebral palsy and various forms of abuse, yet overcame her debility and fought to improve her life. For years Elly blocked out the pain and traumatic abuse she suffered. She found some solace in writing poems and in letters never sent to her abusers. This way she coped with secrets held between her and her sister and untold truths. After the successive deaths of her loved ones, Elly again took pen to paper and wrote letters to them. Now she has written her story of disability, of family, of a haunting and tormenting past and of a search for happiness and peace.
